Dear friends,

Last weekend we had a fantastic Halloweenparty. Much thanks to our dear teachers. Thank Shirley and Nicole for teachingus make delicious pumpkin pie and chili. Thank Hoda for guiding us carve allkinds of Pumpkins; Thank Deborah for telling us the origin of Halloween andwhat adults and kids usually do to celebrate this traditional holiday.

Here I attached some photos Itook in this wonderful event. And the photos we took together as well as the recipesof the food we cooked will send out later.

Remember the Chinese custom ourparents taught us when we were kids? Eating noodles for birthday brings longlife, eating apples usually means safety; and never share a pear with yourfriends or family members, which mean separation. If a crow lands on your roofor outside your door, it is a prediction that you would have bad luck. Do youstill believe these old superstitions? And will you pass these superstitions toyour children?

Western superstitions also existeverywhere. There are versatile superstitions in different culture. Do you wantto share with us and learn more about other culture? Come to join us at Englishcorner tomorrow from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at RoomS-163, which is located on the first floor of the ScienceBuilding. We will talk about ‘superstition’.
