[size=12.727272033691406px]To promote interactions, connections, and collaborations among Chinese scholars at UCSF, ACSS plans to host monthly "Great People & Science" seminars. Why, you may wonder,  does ACSS have its own seminars despite the fact that UCSF is never short of exciting research seminars? We believe our seminars will be unique and valuable for following reasons.

[size=12.727272033691406px]1. While most UCSF seminars are about science, we put people before science. We believe it is more important to know the people who do the science than to know science in itself. Our seminars will be held in very informal settings, you don't need to wait to the end of seminar to ask questions. And after the talk, there will be ample networking opportunity for us to know each other better.

[size=12.727272033691406px]2. Our seminars are crowd-sourced, they are organized by you and for you. You can either volunteer to be our next speaker or invite someone else to speak in the future.

[size=12.727272033691406px]3. Last but not least, Roche generously agreed to provide dinner for our monthly seminars. Fed up with pizza? You have the say to pick our favorite restaurants, be them Chinese, Thai, Japanese, etc.

[size=12.727272033691406px]We are very grateful to Dr. Ying Wei, associate professor of UCSF, to speak at our inaugural seminar next Friday. Dr. Ying is a very prolific and experienced scientist. In addition to give us a broad picture of what is the hot pursuit in the lab, Dr. Wei is also willing to answer questions regarding how to survive and thrive in UCSF. We'd appreciate if you can direct your questions to us beforehand so that Dr. Wei can give you a more prepared and informative answers.
