Advanced Neonatal Brain Imaging

Presenter: Duan Xu, PhD, Associate professor, UCSF

Location: N-729, Nursing Buillding, Parnassus Campus, UCSF

Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, 01/17/14, Friday

This talk will discuss neonatal brain imaging using the state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging techniques. It will cover the motivation of the neonatal brain imaging program at UCSF and the impact that previous results had on clinical management. An brief introduction to MRI will be provide before the more in-depth discussion of advanced MRI techniques such as diffusion, spectroscopy, perfusion, and resting state fMRI. It will end with a preview of current developments of constructing brain connectomes, which view the brain as a well connected and efficient network.
