Hua Tu, the founder of LakePharma, will share with us the exciting story offounding and running this successful contract research organization (CRO)specializing in antibody and protein engineering. He will speak about how he started the companyand the interesting things that happened while running the company includingaccomplishments and challenges. Inaddition, he will talk about the career development and advice based on his experienceat LakePharma as a founder and as an employee at Amgen.

Speaker: Hua Tu (Ph.D.)

Hua Tuis a biotech entrepreneur and inventor with a proven record in drugdevelopment, and over 20 years of technical expertise in making large moleculedrugs. He founded LakePharma in 2009 and has grown the company into a leadingContract Research Organization (CRO). Previously, Dr. Tu was PrincipalScientist at Amgen, where he led a large team of scientists working on allaspects of recombinant protein engineering. Dr. Tu received his Ph.D. from State University of New York at StonyBrook, and conducted his postdoctoral research at Tularik and Cold SpringHarbor Laboratory.

Locatedin the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, LakePharma is a leading contractresearch organization (CRO) specializing in antibody and protein engineering,cell line development, and protein production. LakePharma has developed numerous in-house technology platforms to providecost-effective and high quality services to its customers, with rapidturnaround time and regular communication. The production processes are SOP-based and high-throughput, and havebeen streamlined to be exceptionally efficient on both a small and large scale.Each project is actively managed by a dedicated study director to ensure timelycompletion with superior results and transparent communication. Clients havereal-time access to their project data and can view and receive status updatesthrough LakePharma’s secure cloud-based Datasystems. LakePharma follows theprinciples of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensurethe quality, reliability and integrity of study data. All services are providedsolely on a fee-for-service basis and are royalty-free.
