Dear CBC members,

We would like to thank the members who attended the Chinese Biotechnology Expert Forum . Totally 35 members participated the exciting event. We are delighted in witnessing our belief in connection brightens career (abbrev. CBC) echoed by your strong show up. As the saying goes, a good beginning is half way to success. We are confident that everybody benefited a lot from the Forum. Here we want to highlight three points below.

First, from the seminars and discussions of the high-profile speakers and panelists, we have a solid sense of the reality, challenge and opportunity of the biotechnology industry, which more than half of our members may one day work for. Hopefully the newly acquired knowledge will benefit your career development. We want to thank CABS, the major organizer of the Forum. We look forward to co-organize more attractive and educative events with CABS in the future.

Second, we have 10 new members joined our club on-site. The new members are: Cheng Liu, Zhi Li, Yong Huang, Yalei Wu, Bei Wang, Yeqiu Wu, Ming Dong, Zhidong Xu, Min Wang, Xidao Wang. Currently members in our club have very diversified background. Now we have 4 faculty members, and members from other Bay Area institutions, such as Standford, Berkeley, and UNC.

Third, we exchanged ideas with some members on how our club should be operated in the future. To help our members to know each other better and quicker, Wuping created a shared Google account for our club. The user name is "ucsfchina" and the password for the account is "xxxxxxxx". We encourage you to share your information as much as possible as long as you feel comfortable.

Due to the tight schedule of the Forum, we have not been able to discuss the prospect of our club with most members. And that is exactly what we are trying to address in the next CBC gathering. We are planning to have a potluck party from noon to 3:00 PM on March 23. During the party, we will have ample time for members to get to know each other. We will also discuss activities that CBC is going to organize in the future. More detailed information are soon to follow, please mark your calender and make sure you will be able to join the first CBC exclusive event.
